Bonjour!

You stumbled upon our side of Louisiana History

We are so lucky that our Uncle Charles Montie, and his wife Mary Montie, researched our Montie line for over 30 years and collected a wealth of information and pictures for us. There is so much to share that everyone in the family has not even seen it all yet. We plan to share much of that here, in commemoration of him and his time spent creating and preserving our family legacy.

I say “creating,” because, surprisingly, the Montie Family is not widely known in all of Louisiana or Louisiana history, even though they were pioneers of many of the parishes, experienced the Acadian Expulsion, and came over on the 7 ships during the Acadian Migration.

The Monties intermarried with multiple other Louisiana families, so if you are not a a Montie, you are still probably a cousin! Hopefully, you find something helpful or interesting here.

Au revoir,

The Monties

The Chosen

This is the caption for your image

A little blurb for genealogy lovers:

We are the chosen. In each family there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again. To tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the story tellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us: Tell our story. So, we do. In finding them, we somehow find ourselves.

How many graves have I stood before now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the ancestors, 'You have a wonderful family; you would be proud of us.'. How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me? I cannot say. It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who I am, and why I do the things I do.
